About the LGBT Scene in Europe

Europe is one of the most progressive continents in terms of LGBTQ+ rights. Many Western European countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and France have legalized same-sex marriage and introduced comprehensive anti-discrimination laws.

The Pride movement has a long tradition in Europe. Christopher Street Day (CSD) is celebrated in numerous cities, with the largest parades taking place in Cologne, Berlin, Amsterdam and Madrid. However, Eastern Europe shows a mixed picture – while countries like the Czech Republic and Slovenia are making progress, Poland and Hungary are seeing increasing restrictions for the LGBTQ+ community.
