Gay Saunas worldwide

In roughly two thirds of cities there is exactly one gay sauna. Finding one usually means a journey, and a list that stops at the city limits is no help. Every listed venue is here, sorted by city and on the map.

366 saunas in 213 cities

In a good two-thirds of the cities that appear here, there is exactly one gay sauna. That shapes the rest: you go there instead of stopping by, and those who are on the road plan the address instead of finding it.

Behind the common word are very different houses. One is wellness with a cruising area, the other is cruising with an attached sauna. In between, there is all sorts of things: gym, bar, cinema, roof terrace, theme nights on fixed weekdays. The type of house is rarely stated on its website. It can be seen in the time at which something is going on and in who is coming.

For travelers, this is the real value of an overview beyond city limits. The sauna at the destination is often the only queer address in the city and thus also the place where you can find out what else is going on.

Etiquette & how it works

The process is almost the same everywhere, even if no one explains it. At the entrance there are keys and towel, usually for a deposit or included in the entrance; Clothes remain in the locker. If you are there for the first time, you can say so at the checkout — there it is normal information.

Communication is done without words, and therefore the most important rule is a negation: No signal means no. Anyone who turns away, closes the door or takes a hand away has answered. A second attempt is not a demand. Conversely, the same is true for yourself — you show interest by staying and making eye contact, not by touching.

Mobile phones are generally prohibited, in many houses also in the changing room area. This is not harassment, but the only protection that a room without clothing has.

Prices & opening hours

Billing is almost always as a day ticket instead of by the hour: If you come in the morning and leave in the evening, you pay once. Surcharges typically apply on weekends and at events, discounts are available on fixed weekdays and for young guests under an age limit.

The cabin and locker run separately — a cabin costs extra and is only worthwhile if you actually use it. There are deliberately no concrete amounts here: they differ per house and change faster than an overview page can follow. The reliable number is at the checkout, the second most reliable on the company's website.

Frequently asked questions

Most of the time not. Towel and locker keys are available at the entrance, often for a deposit. Nevertheless, your own second towel never hurts.
Nothing or a towel. Street clothes remain in the locker, shoes are exchanged at the entrance for slippers, which many houses provide.
In eye contact that is maintained, and in the fact that someone stays. Those who turn away or walk away have refused — that is the complete answer and does not need to be asked.
Yes, practically everywhere at least 18 years. Individual houses also have days with their own age limits; that is then in the program.
Each house decides for itself. Many gay saunas are explicitly men-only, others have mixed days. Without any information on the website, it is worth calling beforehand.
Not in most houses, often not even in the changing room. Photography is prohibited everywhere — and there is no exception.
