Cruising & Darkrooms worldwide

Hardly anyone looks for a darkroom on their own street. This page gathers the listed cruising spots across every city and puts them on the map.

257 cruising spots in 124 cities

Cruising places have a characteristic that distinguishes them from any other category: you rarely look for them in your own street. If you need an address, you need it on the road, late at night or in a foreign city — and then a list that doesn't stop at your own zip code helps.

The term encompasses three quite different things. Sex clubs and cruising bars are establishments with admission, opening hours and staff. Darkrooms are usually attached to a bar or club and are its side room, not its purpose. And then there are the places without operators: parks, parking lots, wooded areas that no one opens and no one closes.

The third type is the most unreliable and at the same time the least written about. What applies there depends on the state and sometimes on the municipality. The legal situation per country can be found on the country pages of this overview, with source and audit date.

Etiquette & how it works

The one topic that overrides everything else is consensus — and this is negotiated here almost exclusively non-verbally. Those who don't want to turn away, walk away or take a hand away. This answers the question. There is no situation where a second attempt passes as a demand.

Addressing is allowed, touching only after a sign. Conversely, you can leave at any time, even in the middle of it, without justification. Those who observe instead of participating are on the sidelines: standing close to them is itself an invitation and is read as such.

Practical: mobile phone away, valuables in the locker. In companies, there are staff who can be approached if someone doesn't stop. In places without an operator, this does not exist — there leaving is the only reliable answer.

Prices & opening hours

Sex clubs and cruising bars charge admission, often staggered by day of the week and with a surcharge for events. A darkroom behind a bar is usually included in the normal entrance fee or costs nothing at all. Outdoor places never cost anything.

Amounts are not listed here because they differ per house and change without warning. More reliable than any overview is the website of the house on the day of the visit — and in the case of addresses that only open on certain evenings, their program.

Frequently asked questions

A sex club is an operation with admission and opening hours. A darkroom is usually the adjoining room of a bar. A cruising area has no operator — park, parking lot, woodland — and therefore no one to intervene.
By staying, eye contact and touch, which is reciprocated. Turning away, walking away, or taking away a hand means no — completely and without having to say anything.
No. In companies it is reason for a house ban, in outdoor places the same applies unwritten. Photography is the one limit where there is no interpretation.
Get loud and go. In clubs and bars, there are staff who are there for this; address it, even in retrospect. In places without operators, only distance helps.
In clubs mostly, in darkrooms it depends on the operation in front of it. Outdoor places don't have any — there, the season and time decide whether anyone is there at all.
This depends on the country and, in the case of outdoor places, also on whether the place is publicly visible. The country pages of this overview show the legal situation per country with source and test date.
