Asia shows a very diverse picture when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights. While Taiwan was the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage and Thailand is known for its relatively tolerant attitude, many countries still have significant legal and social barriers.
Pride events take place in metropolises such as Tokyo, Taipei, Bangkok and Tel Aviv, with Tel Aviv Pride being among the largest worldwide. In some countries like Singapore, laws against homosexuality have recently been abolished, while other regions still have severe penalties.
