Gay Hotels worldwide

Gay hotels are not spread evenly. They cluster where a scene already exists — fourteen in Maspalomas alone, thirteen in Cologne. Most people pick the destination first and the house second. This page turns that around and lists every venue by city, with a map.

164 hotels in 58 cities

Gay hotels are not evenly distributed across the map, but follow the scene. Fourteen of the houses registered here are in Maspalomas alone, thirteen in Cologne — and there are none in dozens of cities with a lively scene.

That's why the search usually works the other way around than with a bar: First the destination is determined, then you look for the house. This overview is intended for the opposite case, namely when the house determines the trip.

What makes a house a gay hotel is not an award, but a decision of the company: men-only or mixed, in the middle of the scene or off the beaten track, city hotel or bungalow complex. The difference to a gay friendly house is not in the service, but in the audience — there you are welcome, here you are the target group.

Etiquette & how it works

Men-only houses are exactly that, and they mean it: visitors from outside are often regulated or excluded. If you are travelling as a couple with a woman or bring a family with you, you should clarify this before booking instead of at the reception.

Nudity is common in pools with pools, but not a matter of course; only what the house itself states is reliable. Sauna, darkroom or cruising area are part of some of the houses and are then part of the hotel, not a separate operation. The same rules apply as in a sauna, and the staff is approachable.

The rest is ordinary hotel courtesy. What happens at the pool stays at the pool, and no photographs are taken.

Prices & opening hours

Prices here follow the season, not the day of the week. In destinations with a pronounced high season — Gran Canaria in winter, the Mediterranean resorts in summer — rates in the weeks around Pride or Carnival are significantly higher than the rest of the year, and the houses are then fully booked months in advance.

There are no concrete rates here: they change daily and would be wrong on an overview page when they appear. Where a house can be booked directly, the link on its detail page leads there.

Frequently asked questions

That the guests are the target group and are not just tolerated. How far this goes — men-only, mixed, with or without scene areas — is decided by each house itself and usually spells it clearly.
A gay friendly house treats you like any other guest. A gay hotel is built for you. Both can be the right choice, it's just not the same thing.
No. One part is explicitly men-only, another mixed or open to all. This is almost always stated on the company's website; if in doubt, ask before booking.
In many resorts, yes, but rarely in city hotels. Only what the house itself states is reliable — there is no general rule.
For high season and for Pride weeks as early as possible; in the known destinations, the houses are then full months in advance. Outside of that, there is usually no problem in the short term.
To some extent, yes. Where they exist, they belong to the hotel and are looked after by the staff; the same rules apply as in a sauna.
