Gay Saunas in Spain

In roughly two thirds of cities there is exactly one gay sauna. Finding one usually means a journey, and a list that stops at the city limits is no help. Every listed venue is here, sorted by city and on the map.

23 saunas in 8 cities

Spain distributes its 23 saunas differently than Germany: Ten of them are in Barcelona alone, five in Maspalomas. The rest is spread thinly over Valencia, Tenerife, Madrid and some smaller towns.

This is not a statistical whim, but follows tourism. Barcelona and the Canary Islands attract guests all year round, and the houses there live from visitors as well as locals. If you are looking for a sauna in Spain, you usually look for it at your holiday destination and not in the nearest city.

The Spanish houses are on average larger than the German ones and often open until the early morning. The evening starts later here — there is little going on in many houses before midnight.

Madrid is remarkable. The capital has exactly one house in this overview, while Barcelona has ten. You don't expect such a ratio in two cities of this size, and it postpones travel planning: If you go for the saunas, you go to Barcelona.
