Little Rock - Guide for Gays, Lesbians and Queers

Little Rock does not have a big gay scene or a gay neighborhood, but it does have a few long-running venues. There is no documented gay sauna or bathhouse in the city.

The main downtown spot is Club Sway at 412 Louisiana Street. The address has a long history: it was previously home to the gay bars The Factory and, before that, C.O.A.D. Club Sway hosts themed dance parties, drag shows, comedy and theater, with a stage for larger productions, video screens, raised seating and a covered outdoor smoking lounge. The club explicitly presents itself as a safe space for queer people of color, women and trans people. Seats can be reserved for shows with guest stars.

In the Riverdale district, a large club building at 1021 Jessie Road goes by two names. On Saturdays it is Discovery: three rooms with hip-hop and Top 40, Latin pop in the Caliente Room and a weekly drag show in the Athena Theatre, open until 5 a.m. On Fridays the same building opens as Triniti, with a dance floor, a showroom for two drag shows a night and the quieter Le Bistro lounge, for guests 18 and over. If you are only in town for a weekend, you can go out on two nights without changing venues.

Beyond nightlife there are community resources. Central Arkansas Pride is a nonprofit that organizes events throughout the year, including PRIDEFest in October, a June parade in the SoMa neighborhood, workshops on civic engagement and drag brunches. Its website collects dates and news for LGBTQ+ people across Arkansas. In June, Little Rock Black Pride adds parties, a brunch and a wellness festival.
