Tuebingen - Guide for Gays, Lesbians and Queers

The main permanent point of contact for queer people in Tübingen is the Queeres Zentrum Tübingen (QZT) at Derendinger Straße 41, south of the Neckar and close to the main train station. The front part of the centre houses a café that is open during events.

The QZT offers counselling for queer people, one-to-one conversations and support for family members. A regular Queer Refugee Meetup brings together people who have fled to Germany. The centre also works on removing barriers and provides information in plain language. Through an open events calendar, other groups can book the space for their own meetings.

The regional AIDS service organisation, Aidshilfe Tübingen-Reutlingen, runs regular testing evenings in the QZT's rooms. Visitors get counselling and a risk assessment, anonymous rapid tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C with results in about ten minutes, and lab tests for chlamydia and gonorrhoea, with results available online by code a week later. For nights out there is LuSchT, a volunteer-run themed party for lesbians, gay men and bisexual people held once a quarter at the Schlachthaus venue. Its proceeds go to the Aidshilfe. Once a year, in June, Tübingen Pride marches through the city. It is organised by the local Pride association, whose team also meets at the QZT.

Tübingen is a short train ride from Stuttgart. The QZT is only a few minutes' walk from the main station, so there is no need for a car. The centre posts current opening hours and events on its website and social media channels.
