Regensburg - Guide for Gays, Lesbians and Queers

Regensburg has no gay district and only a few dedicated venues. The queer scene is small, well connected and spread across mixed bars and clubs in the old town, which is compact enough to cover on foot.

The best-known fixed address is Scala, a club on Gesandtenstraße. It has hosted SaturGay, a queer party on the last Saturday of the month, for many years, and it also runs a gay night during the week with pop, chart hits and classics. The crowd is mixed: gay men, lesbians, friends and plenty of students.

For a drink, the local umbrella group Queeres Regensburg lists several queer-friendly bars. Bar 13 on Keplerstraße and Blomberg on Jakobstraße host pre-parties for the city's queer party series and run Pride karaoke nights. Blomberg and Tiki Beat on Arnulfsplatz also host LGBTea, an informal queer meetup.

Most of the scene's energy comes from party series and groups rather than fixed venues. Candylicious is the biggest party series, Happiness is a queer club night at the Alte Mälzerei cultural center, and Nasty donates its proceeds to local queer organizations. There are youth groups, a trans support association, a lesbian group called Dyke Club and the regional AIDS counseling service.

There is no gay sauna or cruising club that can be confirmed with certainty as currently open in the city. For a larger scene, Munich and Nuremberg are both within easy reach by train. Opening times and party dates change often, so check the Queeres Regensburg calendar before heading out.
