About the LGBT Scene in Muelheim

Mülheim an der Ruhr's queer scene is modest but real – unlike earlier versions of this text, which named four venues ('Rainbow Bar', 'Queer Café Ruhr', 'Sauna Oasis', 'Pink Spot') that don't appear in any scene guide for the city and were apparently invented outright. 'together Mülheim / Treff.Queer' at Hans-Böckler-Platz 2a is the actual central meeting point for the community, offering counselling, regular get-togethers, and a fixed table downstairs in the city-centre forum, just a short walk from the main station.

For a livelier night, the gay sauna 'Ruhrwellness' on Sandstraße 154–162 spans roughly 1,000 square metres with steam rooms, a hot tub, and a darkroom, plus a dedicated Bears Sauna Night on the first and third Friday of each month. Trans men are explicitly welcome there, and its location near the A40 motorway makes it easy to reach from the wider region.

A dedicated queer bar or café scene isn't documented for Mülheim itself, though. Visitors looking for more will find a considerably bigger offering of bars, cafés, and clubs in nearby Düsseldorf and Essen, both just a short train ride away, reachable directly by S-Bahn from Mülheim's main station without changing trains, which makes an evening trip an easy option.
