Hof has no gay bar of its own, no café with an explicitly queer program, and no sauna with a cruising area. Earlier descriptions along those lines can't be substantiated for the city. Neither local press nor established gay travel guides like misterb&b or mygon list a venue in Hof.
The queer community becomes visible mainly once a year, at Pride Hof. Initiated by the Hof Youth Forum as part of the “Partnership for Democracy” and with Mayor Eva Döhla as patron, the march traditionally ends at the Kugelbrunnen fountain in the old town. For one afternoon, a street festival with live music, drag performances, and information booths turns that spot into the scene's real gathering point, if only for a few hours a year.
The newly founded association Queerlife Hof e.V. organizes the Pride event and also serves as a point of contact for the local community, though without a fixed venue of its own. The federal “Demokratie leben!” program that funds the Partnership for Democracy behind it supports similar local projects across the country, not just in Hof.
For bars, cafés, or saunas with regular queer programming, you'll need to leave Hof. Bayreuth or Nuremberg are the nearest options. Within the city, the Pride and its street festival at the Kugelbrunnen remain the central, if occasional, expression of queer life in Hof.
