Established in 1910 as a Realschule, it relocated to this address in 1913 and adopted the 'Lessing' name. In 2007, it became NRW's first sports school in partnership with Fortuna Düsseldorf, evolving into a prime destination for athletic students. By 2014, it earned designation as an Elite Football School.
