Bad Salzuflen - Guide for Gays, Lesbians and Queers

Bad Salzuflen itself has no queer bar, no queer café and no association with its own meeting place. There is also no gay sauna listed in the town. The baths and wellness facilities of the spa are open to all guests and have no particular queer connection. There are, however, places to turn to in the Lippe district and right next door.

In the Lippe district, the best-known queer organisation is the Lippe Pride association, based in Detmold. It organises Pride for the whole district and can be reached by email and via Instagram. Anyone who wants to volunteer or become a member will find contacts there.

For queer young people, Detmold has Diversity Detmold. This group for LGBTQ* people aged roughly 14 to 25 is run by young people themselves and meets every Friday. Members cook, play games, talk and watch films together, and the group decides what to do. Before a first visit you can get in touch by email or meet someone from the group beforehand.

In neighbouring Bielefeld, to the west, Aidshilfe Bielefeld e.V. offers psychosocial counselling for LGBTIQ* people under the name Queer*Connect. It also runs anti-discrimination counselling, projects for queer people with and without a refugee background, and a counselling and testing service for men who have sex with men. Bielefeld is also home to BIEQueer e.V., the association behind Bielefeld Pride. It works on education and on connecting queer groups, and it holds open meetings.

For people from Bad Salzuflen, Detmold and Bielefeld are therefore the two places where queer life is organised.
