In the Village, Centretown Pub was the community's anchor for decades, known for pool tables and drag entertainment; it has since closed. Today's main gathering spot is the Lookout Bar in the ByWard Market, with karaoke nights, video nights, weekly drag shows, and the city's only licensed balcony overlooking Parliament Hill.

Kind Space, a not-for-profit community centre for queer youth and young adults, offers a welcoming café space, workshops, and support outside the nightlife scene. Cafés around the Village serve as relaxed daytime meeting spots for coffee and conversation, several with rainbow touches. The neighbouring Glebe area is also considered queer-friendly, with independent bookshops and brunch spots.

The Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives preserve the local community's history and are worth a visit for anyone interested in Ottawa's queer past. The city's bilingual character, English and French, makes the scene accessible to visitors from neighbouring Gatineau too, and the annual Capital Pride week adds extra energy to the Village.

These spots capture Ottawa's friendly, diverse LGBTQ+ heartbeat, even as the number of dedicated venues has shrunk compared to earlier decades.
