Almost all of Quebec City's queer venues are in the Faubourg Saint-Jean-Baptiste, a residential neighbourhood of steep streets just west of the old town walls. The scene is small. Only a handful of places cater specifically to LGBTQ+ guests, but they are well established and close to one another, so it is easy to visit several in one evening on foot.
Le Drague at 815 Rue Saint-Augustin is the best-known meeting place. It has been a home for the community for decades and combines several spaces under one roof: a cabaret with drag shows, a club where DJs play, and Zone 3, a lounge for conversation over cocktails. A terrace opens in summer. The rooms can also be rented for meetings, conferences or private parties.
Bar St-Matthew's at 889 Côte Sainte-Geneviève is a gay neighbourhood pub with a pool table, karaoke and regular drag on its small stage. It hosts bear and leather nights and draws a mostly local, somewhat older crowd.
Sauna Back Boys is at 264 Rue de la Couronne in the lower town.
The main community organization is the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec. It campaigns for the rights of people of sexual and gender diversity in the Capitale-Nationale region, organizes Fierté de Québec and the local events for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, and its website points people to help if they face discrimination. For a much larger scene with its own Gay Village, the nearest option is Montréal, the largest city in the province.
