Housed in the vaulted cellar of a former late-19th-century wine store in Karlsruhe's Oststadt district, Nachtwerk has become a regular stop for gothic, EBM, trance and related electronic sounds. Across roughly 450 square metres, a dance floor, bar and a quieter chill-out cafe share the brick-vaulted space, which lends the club its distinctive acoustics and atmosphere. Alongside its regular club nights, a rotating line-up of DJ sets and live acts keeps the programme varied throughout the year. Through its Rosapark party series, Nachtwerk gives Karlsruhe's LGBTIQ+ community a night of its own on a regular basis, with a deliberately broader mix of music and crowd than usual. Anyone looking to dance between electronic beats and centuries-old brickwork will find a venue that refuses to commit to a single genre or crowd.
