On the grounds of Freiburg's Mundenhof, home to the Zelt-Musik-Festival, the Badische Zeitung Zelt stands as a mirror tent close to the festival entrance. By day it hosts talks and smaller programme slots; on Friday and Saturday nights it turns into a dance floor, with the disco ball starting up around 11pm to a mix of drum'n'bass, house, hip-hop, soul and techno.
The tent's regular lineup includes the Queer-it-up party, which pairs drag performances with carefree dancing and sets up information stands on sexual health alongside the celebration of diversity. On those nights the tent regularly fills to capacity, standing out among the festival's offerings beyond its core concert programme.
The festival's own announcements invite all dancing queens and kings into the tent, a small sign of how naturally queer nightlife has become part of the Mundenhof festival routine.
