diskoBabel is a self-organised art and culture space in Berlin, built from shipping containers and a circus tent on a temporary-use site. Several collectives share the grounds here, running workshops, studios and event spaces entirely off-grid, solar-powered and without connection to the electricity, water or sewage network. One of the collectives based there is MUCHA, a DIY club and social hub project by and for queer migrants and BIPOC, which regularly hosts parties and community nights. The raw charm of container architecture and open-air space gives the place an off-scene atmosphere rarely found in Berlin's increasingly polished club landscape. Like many of the city's temporary-use projects, diskoBabel lives with ongoing uncertainty about its future at any given site — a trait that is as much a part of its DIY culture as the diverse mix of collectives themselves.
