The Saint-Louis district is where Grenoble's queer scene centers. It's home to Le Café Noir, a gay bar and restaurant with dedicated party nights on Fridays and Saturdays, and Le Vixen, a bar for gay men and lesbians. The Mark XIII is a gay-friendly bar focused on electronic music.
For sauna and cruising, there's Sun7, formerly Oxygène, the city's only gay sauna: men-only Monday through Thursday and on Saturdays, mixed on Fridays, with a hammam, sauna, bar and private areas. Le St Ferjus adds a steam room, video room, relaxation cabins, massage area and bar.
Grenoble is the largest city in the French Alps and is often used as a base for winter sports and mountain trips; its queer scene is accordingly smaller than Lyon's, the nearest major city about an hour away. Grenoble's train station is well connected, and the nearest international airport is in Lyon.
Every venue listed here sits centrally and is easy to reach on foot or by tram, which makes Grenoble workable for a short city stop between two days in the mountains. Winter visitors often combine a night out with skiing at nearby resorts like Chamrousse, about an hour away. The center is small enough to walk between every address in a single evening.
