KCR Dortmund e.V., known as Kommunikations Centrum Ruhr, serves as Germany's longest-standing queer center, fostering a welcoming space for LSBTIQ* individuals in Dortmund. Nestled at Braunschweiger Str. 22, it embodies an inclusive atmosphere where diversity thrives through community events, leisure activities, and vital support services.
The center offers a rich array of programs, including open social gatherings, youth groups, senior meetups, dance classes, music sessions, and cultural initiatives. Highlights include the Gay & Gray Treff for men over 40, featuring themed discussions on aging and relationships, and the Sonntags-Café with homemade cakes for relaxed Sundays. As the host for LEBEDO, a psychosocial counseling service funded by North Rhine-Westphalia, KCR provides expert guidance on identity, relationships, family planning, and transitions for queer people and their loved ones.
