About Schwankhalle
- Event Location
Schwankhalle in Bremen's Neustadt stands as a dynamic hub for independent performing arts, housed in the repurposed halls of a former brewery. The atmosphere blends raw industrial aesthetics with vibrant creativity: towering ceilings, exposed brick, and innovative stage setups create an immersive space for bold experimentation. Featuring two auditoriums seating 120 and 80 respectively, rehearsal stages, and artist accommodations, it provides ideal facilities for international theater ensembles.
The offerings span contemporary performances, dance, music, and interdisciplinary works that explore innovation and social themes. Highlights include the OUTNOW! Festival co-hosted with Theater Bremen, plus affiliations with networks like NFT and FREISCHWIMMEN to foster exchange. Under the direction of Anna K. Becker and Katrin Hylla, the programming remains open and inquisitive. The foyer offers a cozy spot for lingering, sparking conversations on art and culture. Schwankhalle is essential for anyone seeking cutting-edge stage art.
