Bilbao's queer scene is small but present, organized largely through the LGBTIQ+ association Hegoak, which has offered counseling, networking, and events in the city since the 1990s and remains one of the community's main points of contact.

For sauna visits, Sauna Ego and Sauna Element are the two established addresses, with steam rooms and relaxation areas. Bilbao has no self-contained gay district like larger Spanish cities; the few addresses are spread between Casco Viejo and Abando.
