About the LGBT Scene in Belgrade

Belgrade's queer scene is smaller than you might expect for a city of this size, centring on a handful of established addresses. RED Line, in the Palilula district, is the city's only dedicated gay sauna: a discreet entrance marked by a red light, modern facilities with a dry sauna, jacuzzi and bar, and a reputation for cleanliness and a small, low-key format. For daytime drinks or a first stop, 54 Bar (formerly Smiley Bar) is a fixture with affordable prices.

At night, Klub Mercury is one of the best-known spots — a floating boat club on the Sava river known for being LGBTQ+-friendly and for hosting regular parties and events with a changing line-up of DJs. Other bars and clubs cluster mainly in the Dorćol and Savamala neighbourhoods, both known for a colourful, mixed nightlife scene within easy walking distance of downtown.

Community centres and local organisations offer counselling, workshops and networking beyond the nightlife scene, often with a focus on young people and trans residents. Belgrade Pride brings additional visibility and its own programme of parades, conferences and parties to the city once a year.

Belgrade's gay venues sit close together in a few central neighbourhoods, making it easy to hop between addresses without long treks across the Serbian capital.
